Academy Nominations
One of the more rewarding aspects of my job is the privilege of nominating south Alabama's brightest young men and women to our nation's service academies. In order to receive an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, an individual must first receive a nomination from his or her U.S. Representative or Senator. No nomination is required for admission to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
I am currently taking applications for the Class of 2014, which will enter the academies in July 2010. I invite all interested high school juniors and seniors to my annual Academy Night on Monday, October 12 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the auditorium of St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile. Please review the Fact Sheet carefully and make note that the deadline for getting this information to me is December 1, 2009. Once you have completed the Application, please return it to my Mobile office.

I was pleased to host a dinner at Eds Shed for the students I nominated for consideration to one of our nation’s service academies for the class of 2012.
Congratulations Academy Graduates, Class of 2009!
