Academy Nominations
One of the more rewarding aspects of my job is the privilege of nominating south Alabama's brightest young men and women to our nation's service academies. In order to receive an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, an individual must first receive a nomination from his or her U.S. Representative or Senator. No nomination is required for admission to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

I was pleased to host a dinner at the Original Oyster House for the students I nominated for consideration to one of our nation’s service academies. Pictured with me are two of my nominees to the class of 2010, William Smith and Sam Shea.
The application deadline for the Class of 2012, which will enter the academies in June 2008, has passed.
I am now accepting applications for the Class of 2013. Please review the fact sheet carefully and make note that the deadline for getting this information to me is December 1, 2008. Once you have completed your Application, please return it to Brooks Chew in my Mobile office.
