U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner will host the annual First Congressional District Service Academy Night on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the auditorium of St. Paul's Episcopal School, 161 Dogwood Lane, Mobile, Alabama.

Academy Night highlights the educational opportunities available at the United States Service Academies and provides information on the requirements and process for obtaining a congressional nomination.

Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy will be in attendance to deliver brief presentations about their respective academies and to take your questions.

A member of Congressman Bonner's staff will also be on hand with information concerning congressional nominations and applications for students interested in competing for a nomination to the class of 2016.

"Each year it is my honor to nominate young men and women from Southwest Alabama to receive a U.S. service academy education," Congressman Bonner said.  "Academy Night makes it possible for interested young people to meet academy representatives face to face and learn firsthand about the great tradition of excellence each of these institutions affords.

"A world class education and leadership skills that will carry you through life make the service academies a truly unique choice for qualified college-bound students.  I encourage all students and their parents to attend Academy Night to learn more about the service academies."
